Medusa is a misunderstood creature of mythology. Cursed by Athena for becoming impure (whether consensually or not, depends on who's telling the tale), Medusa's famous mane of snakes turned all those who gazed upon her to stone. Even after her murder, Perseus used her head as a weapon. In modern times, many assault survivors get Medusa tattoos as part of their healing journey. In Greek mythology, snakes were regarded as guardians of the Underworld or messengers between the Upper and Lower worlds. Snakes are also associated with Asclepius, the god of medicine, healing, rejuvenation, and physicians. Our Medusa pieces represent healing and divine feminine power.
